ESPN On Dish Guide

The main ESPN channel is on Channels 140 and 144 on Dish Network.

140 is the main channel and 144 is the secondary channel in case there’s spillover content.  For the rest of the time, 144 will play local programming AKA infomercials.

Dish has a row of sports channels starting on Channel 140 and ending on Channel 159.

ESPN is the first on this list as it should be on Channel 140.

Most of the ESPN channels are on channels 140 to 145 except for ESPN Deportes which is much further out with other Hispanic language channels.

Channels 140 and 144 are the right channels for the primary ESPN channel no matter where you live.

This is a welcome upgrade over cable channels where there’s often multiple and different channels that are different depending on your zip code.

ESPN2 / ESPN News On Dish

Dish Network customers can watch ESPN2 on channels 143 and 145 and ESPN News on Channel 142.

Like the main ESPN channel, the second ESPN2 Channel exists on Channel 145 for when they need two broadcast channels.

The rest of the time it will just be a place for infomercials.

If you’re looking for ESPN 3, go to Channel 142.  ESPN 3 was what ESPN News started out as but they rebranded it.

Unfortunately, ESPN Ocho only exists in the Dodgeball movie although ESPN rebranded a channel the Ocho for a couple of days as a marketing stunt a couple of years back.

For all Dish customers, here’s the list of channels where you can watch ESPN and its various sub-brands.

Dish ESPNU and Deportes Channels

Other important ESPN channels that you might want to watch on Dish include ESPNU and ESPN Deportes.

There’s only one channel where you can watch each of these channels.

ESPNU is available on Dish Network on Channel 141 and ESPN Deportes is way out there on Channel 854.

It’s interesting that ESPN Deportes is not grouped with the rest of the ESPN channels and is grouped with a bunch of Spanish language channels.

In fact, it’s right next to the Fox Sports Deportes channel.

The U in ESPNU stands for University.  ESPNU is the channel where you can watch college sports that ESPN has the rights for.
