There are lots of things you can do to lower your tmobile bill.  Examples include skipping the complimentary Netflix and switching to the 55+ plan if you’re a senior.

At BillSmart, we’ve negotiated thousands of T-Mobile bills and saved our clients hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Our clients save $352 on average and our success rate is 83%. If you want the experts to maximize the savings on your tmobile bill with the most advanced tactics, sign up by clicking the link below.

Netflix And Lowering Your Tmobile Bill

Remember Quibi?  It was the short clip streaming service that flamed out spectacularly in 2020.  It could also be the reason that you’re paying an extra $40 a month on your T-Mobile bill.

Tmobile has multiple tiers of plans.  Its current line up is Essentials, Magenta and Magenta Max.

One of the main differences between the premium Magenta Max and Essentials plan is “Netflix on Us”.  This used to include Quibi as well.  The price of this feature is $17 a line.

Quibi doesn’t exist anymore and Netflix is only $8.99 a month.  If you’re on a family plan like 73% of Americans, you’re likely overpaying on your T-Mobile if you’re on T-Mobile’s more premium plans.

If you’re on T-Mobile’s most premium plan, you should be there for specific features, not because the salesperson at the store upsold you.

Talk to a tmobile representative over the phone or chat with them online and see what kind of plans that you can get that doesn’t have free Netflix at lower prices. We’ve been able to save our clients $20-$100 a month just through this one simple strategy.

Lowering your tmobile bill hotspots

Have you ever heard of a mobile hotspot?  If the answer is no, you’re overpaying for tmobile if the name of your plan isn’t Essentials.

A mobile hotspot allows your phone to act as a router for your other devices on the go.  “Premium” mobile hotspot features have been one of the primary ways that phone companies in the United States gouge their customers.

T-Mobile provides mobile hotspots to all customers at all tiers.  The only difference between the “low end” and “high end” plans is that Magenta Max has 40GB of high speed data a month before it goes to 3G while Essentials starts you off at 3G data.

We’ve found that most tmobile customers don’t even know that they have a mobile hotspot included in their phone plan.

That’s one of the key differences between the different tmobile plans so if you’re paying for what you don’t need, it’s time to stop.

If you’re unsure how much hotspot usage you have monthly, you can ask the rep what your usage has been over the last couple of months.

If you really need mobile hotspot high speed data, sign up for the Magenta plan and you’ll save $7 a line. By making sure you’re on the right plan, you can lower your bill $15-$75 a month and save over 35% on your bill.

How To Save On Tmobile Protection Plans

Another dirty secret of the phone company industry is overcharging customers for the phone protection plans in the out months of their coverage

Apple releases a new iPhone every year and the phone that you bought last year depreciates over time.  However, the amount that you’re paying on your protection plan stays the same.

You can reduce the amount you’re paying on your protection/phone insurance plan while maintaining the same level of service just by asking.

You’ll likely save $5 per protection plan but if you have a lot of phones that adds up.  We’ve also seen horror stories where customers have been paying $20 a month for a year for a protection plan for a phone they no longer own.

Don’t be a victim, see if you’ve had any protection plans longer than 6 months and see how much you can knock the monthly cost down.

There’s been changes to the T-Mobile family recently. Tmobile bought Sprint and is now transitioning Sprint subscribers to the tmobile brand.

You can find out about the new savings opportunities for Sprint since this merger here.

To buy Sprint, Tmobile had to sell Boost Mobile to Dish. The best ways to lower your Boost Mobile bill changed when Boost was sold. We’ve detailed the top 3 ways to save on Boost here.

Tmobile 55+, Military and First Responder Discounts

Tmobile also has special ways to save if you’re 55+, in the Military or a first responder.

If you’re 55+, you can get pay $55 a month for two lines on T-Mobile.  For their cheapest plan without the 55+ discount, you would be paying $90.

By taking advantage of this program, you’ll pay $35 a month less and 39% less than the other plan.

It’s dark but true but T-Mobile likely offers this plan because it feels that seniors are on a fixed income and don’t have as much money and are unlikely to be heavy data users.

They allow plans with fewer lines as older folks are empty nesters and the number of people in their household declines over time.

The deals for Military and First Responders are decent but no where to the level of the 55+. You can get these deals from Tmobile even if you’re an existing customer.

First Responder and Military are pretty identical and if you had a Magenta Max plan with 4 lines, you would pay $140 vs $170 with a First Responder/Military plan, saving you $30 a month.

There are plan tiers for First Responders and Military plans so you should still check to make sure your service matches your needs even if you’re in these discounted plans.

For First Responder and Tmobile Military plans, you’ll need to verify that you’re a first responder and in the military when you talk to tmobile on the phone or on their website.

Plans and other ways to save

There are a number of other ways you can save on your bill.

Tmobile has had multiple plans over the years like T Mobile One and Magenta+ and there are ways to save on these existing plans.

These plans are no longer offered on the website but promotions on these plans still exist.

To access these discounts, you need to talk to a tmobile representative and ask if there is any way to save on your bill.  This will prompt them to look at their system to see if there are any promotions available.

We’ve found that this works much of the time and you can save between $20-$50 a month on your T-Mobile bill with this tactic.

You can also save up to $40 a month if you enroll in autopay with Tmobile.  T-mobile provides a discount of $5 per month for your first 8 lines.

Even if you’ve signed up with T-Mobile for a week, you should check to see if there are ways in which you can save money. Make sure you’re on the right plan and start as soon as possible.  You get billed every month and every month you’re paying more than you need means less money in your pocket.
